It has long been rumored that Apple is developing some kind of headset or glasses for augmented reality. Now, however, the news agency Bloomberg states that Apple has first intended to release a VR headset before releasing any AR product.

According to Bloomberg’s sources, Apple’s VR headset currently goes by the code name “N301” and is intended for taking part in movies, games and presentations in virtual reality. It is described as a competitor to VR headsets from Oculus, HTC and Sony but is believed to be significantly much more expensive than these.

The N301 is described as being at the prototype stage and being about the size of an Oculus Quest. Sometime in 2022, Apple is believed to release its VR headset, according to Bloomberg sources. It is also stated that Apple continues to develop an AR headset and that this goes by the code name “N421”. It is believed that Apple plans to release on the market sometime in 2023.
