IKEA and Xbox Turn the Controller Into a Nine-Piece Gaming Furniture Collection

IKEA and Xbox are turning the controller into furniture. Their new YXSTABY collection is a nine-piece range built around gaming in shared living spaces, mixing practical storage and movable furniture with unmistakable references to Xbox hardware. In the US, IKEA has now listed all nine products ahead of their October arrival, with prices running from $17.99 to $179.99.

The collaboration is less about building a conventional gaming room than making gaming gear easier to live with when the same room also has to work for eating, relaxing or studying. IKEA says designers from both companies worked together on every piece and used home visits to understand how gaming fits into everyday spaces.

YXSTABY hides gaming gear in plain sight

The most practical pieces focus on mobility and storage. A $149.99 TV stand sits on castors and has space behind the screen for gaming equipment, while a $179.99 side table can roll alongside a sofa and conceal charging gear behind sliding doors. The $34.99 laptop support is effectively a portable storage box whose lid doubles as a stand, giving controllers, cables and smaller accessories somewhere to go when a dining table needs to return to normal duty.

For desk setups, the $39.99 monitor stand is designed to raise one or two displays while creating storage underneath. IKEA also describes dedicated places for a phone, headphones and a controller. A mirrored controller display box costs $29.99, offering a more decorative way to show off hardware and collectibles.

The Xbox controller becomes the design language

YXSTABY gets much more playful once it moves beyond storage. The $49.99 thumb stick stool was developed using original Xbox controller 3D design files, according to IKEA. Its textured seat echoes the grip on an analog stick, and the stool tilts with the person sitting on it. That makes it the clearest example of the partnership translating a familiar controller component into a full-size object rather than simply adding Xbox branding to existing furniture.

The directional pad gets two interpretations: a green D-pad cushion and a stainless-steel D-pad platter, both priced at $17.99 in the US. A $119.99 lounge chair rounds out the range. Across the collection, IKEA uses mostly black, white, beige and wood tones, with Xbox green appearing as a stronger accent on details and accessories.

US prices and release dates

IKEA's US collection page says all nine items are arriving in stores on October 1, 2026. The same page currently gives a later November 30 date for online availability, so US shoppers should not assume the global October 1 online date applies locally. IKEA also notes that availability can vary by market.

The collection arrives as Xbox marks 25 years since the original console, but YXSTABY is deliberately subtler than anniversary merchandise. Even the stranger pieces are meant to work as household objects first. The thumb stick stool can still be a stool, the D-pad cushion can live on a sofa, and the rolling furniture is useful whether a console setup is permanent or appears only when it is time to play.

A gaming collection for rooms that do more than game

That focus gives YXSTABY a clearer identity than simply calling it Xbox furniture. The collection treats the cables, controllers, screens and accessories around gaming as a home-organization problem, then layers recognizable Xbox shapes over the solutions. For anyone without a dedicated gaming room, the movable TV stand, storage-focused laptop support and side table may be more consequential than the novelty pieces.
